Fashion Week Heaven and Hell...

Now that NY, London, Milan and Paris fashion weeks are over and designers have displayed what they have in store for us SS '13 it is about time the trends get reviewed and edited as to which ones will be the 'hits' and which ones ultimately miss...

I will start by looking at my all time favorites, and in a way polar opposites Dolce & Gabanna and Celine, the later a French brand which is closely linked with minimalistic elegance and the former known for splash of color in luxurious textures and playful accessories.

Dolce & Gabbana once again displayed the Sicilian elegance at the Milan Fashion Week showing a variety of designs mostly based on colorful stripes. The cropped bralet and high waisted skirt combination is with us to stay - so ladies eventhough SS '13 is far away, it is time belly toning starts!

The minis were not the only show stoppers, but also midi length flowy silk dresses with Sicilian folklore patterns...

The dresses made of printed sacs were also quite interesting. This is definitely something you wouldn't expect to see go down the runway. I am quite a fan of the headbands and the big statement earrings. The shoes are relatively minimalistic to counter balance the busy patterns used elsewhere.

In my opinion this collection shows the playful attitude of D&G (eventhough this line is no longer continued). There is the class of Dolce & Gabbana, but still enough youthful energy of D&G.

Moving onto my critique of the Celine catwalk - I am disappointed to say - I was crushed when I saw the designs. Compared to the previous collections this SS '13 is quite disappointing. I still like the feel of tailoring, but it has gone horribly wrong. This collection is risky and very difficult to pull off. In my personal opinion it isn't flattering at all. Moving on from the clothes to the accessories - what has happened here? No one will want to walk around in a pair of fuzzy yellow shoes even if it is spring and summer (and we know everything looks better during summer, but not those shoes). I am being so harsh because I actually LOVE Celine. I am just confused as to what happened this year. SS '12 was a great success!

A collection of shoes I will be avoiding at all costs. Too couture, cannot be worn. I'd be surprised if these shoes can even be pulled off for editorial shoots....
